Art and DT
Our Art and Design Technology curriculum at Gladstone Park is ambitious and carefully structured to ensure all pupils develop the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed and think creatively. We follow a split curriculum in which pupils study either Art or Design Technology each half term, allowing time for focused, in-depth learning within each subject. Our curriculum is both knowledge- and skills-based and is designed to be progressive over time, so that pupils can build securely on prior learning and make meaningful connections between what they have learned in previous years and the subject they are studying at the time. Across both subjects, children are given regular, high-quality practical opportunities to design, create, experiment and refine their work, enabling skills to be practised and mastered with increasing confidence. Enrichment plays a vital role in our curriculum, and we are proud to be working with Camden Arts Centre to enhance pupils’ experiences and engagement with the arts. Experiences such as these form part of our Gladstone Park Pledge, which is reviewed regularly to ensure our curriculum is enriched with purposeful opportunities for creative exploration, hands-on design and making, and meaningful engagement with our local community and London.
