PE
At Gladstone Park Primary School, we recognise the vital role that high-quality Physical Education plays in supporting pupils’ physical, mental and social development. Our PE curriculum is inclusive, engaging and ambitious, providing pupils with regular opportunities to participate in competitive sport and physically demanding activity.
Our curriculum develops pupils’ knowledge, skills and vocabulary across a wide range of sports, while promoting key life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, fairness and respect.
In preparation for the anticipated National Curriculum update in 2027, our PE curriculum is designed to be flexible, inclusive and future-focused, ensuring pupils develop strong physical literacy, health awareness and lifelong activity habits.
To support high-quality delivery, the school works in partnership with Team Get Involved (TGI). This enhances PE through specialist coaching, team teaching, curriculum support and staff professional development, with the aim of ensuring pupils receive up to two hours of high-quality PE each week.
Our PE overview is based on an enhanced Early Years Framework and National Curriculum model, with clearly sequenced progression from Reception to Year 6. Enrichment activities, festivals and inter-school competitions further raise the profile of PE and encourage continued participation beyond school.
